Researchers from biotech firm Xylome and the US Department of Energy's Joint Genome Institute are studying modified yeasts that can help produce more biofuel from agricultural processing residues such as corn stover. The technology would enable the production of more biofuel without having to grow or harvest more crops, researchers said.
